POOR SERVICE : ABSA CREDIT CARD DIVISION

After several calls to Absa’s Customer Care centre and an e mail with the same info supp**** as this one to which I have received no feedback, I have decided to take the matter up with HelloPeter.

On 07 Feb 2017, I have send the necessary documentation required to obtain a credit card. Refnr ********** ********** 8812 was allocated to me.

My application was approved and my card delivered on 16 Feb , 2017. The guy from CCD courier service sat me down and ticked off all the original documents that he had to take back to ABSA before he handed over the credit card to me.

Everything went very quiet and when I enquired a week later about activation of my card, I was told to my amazement that ABSA only received bank statements for one month, I.e Oct 2016, instead of the 3 months bank statements required. Despite my efforts to explain that the courier co. took ALL the statements upon delivery of my card (he would not have given me the card if it wasn’t the case), I was told to submit the statements once again.

I did this on 28 Feb ,2017. ABSA went quiet again and when I enquired about the progress on 07 March, I was told by Michelle Botha that according to the system ABSA only received the front page. This despite the fact that I have proof that all the pages went through. Michelle asked me to submit the docs directly to her e-mail address which I did the same day, I.e 07 March.

In line with the pathetic service received so far,I received no feedback from ABSA about the matter and I decided not to pursue the application any further.

But wait.....it gets worse. On 16 March an amount of R160 was deducted from my savings account via “Direct credit payment”. As I was unaware of this deduction I made enquiries and to my astonishment find out that the ABSA Credit card dept took my money.

Again I called the call centre this time speaking to Morena Moloi. He was very helpful and promised to resolve my problem the same day. He called me back twice – at about 11:00 and later at about 14:30 to tell me that the revelant people promised to send him an answer on the enquiry and that he would get back to me. Obviously by now as I came to expect this promise materialised into nothing.

On 17 March I called once again, this time speaking to Rodney Bhalannwla. Again I was promised feedback within two hours. I made the call at 08:20 and suffice to say I have not receive feedback.

I am fed-up with this pathetic service. I want to know why the R160 was taken from my savings accnr ********** 486 and I demand that it be paid back into my account. It is just unbelievable how a major bank can survive with this type of service.

Your intervention will be appreciated
