Poor serrvice on set up of a credit card facility on a business account

We have a business account with ABSA, in fact we have 3. We wanted to arrange a credit card facility with ABSA linked to our main Bank account, as we have a number of regular transactions which we need to do which only accept credit card payments.

After applying for the card, it took at least 3 weeks to arrive. When it did, we asked for it to be linked to our bank account, which should be a simple transaction, but we were told initially by the teller that this requires an ABSA consultant to activate.

We then mailed our bank account manager and the account was linked, so we could at least see the credit card balances when we logged in to the bank account. But what we really needed was to be able to transfer money from the bank to the credit card. Why else would we want this? However this did not work.

So we called ABSA Claremont, and got hold of Lynn, to be told initially no, that we would need to write a LETTER to Absa asking for this to be enabled! Lynn could not tell us, if we wrote the letter, when this would be activated. When we complained that this was just not acceptable in terms of our ability to run our business, and really not service at all, we were called by a "Manager" who contradicted this advice, and told us that this was in fact not possible at all, as this facility does not exist on business accounts, even though it does exist on personal accounts...! So there are two different systems for individuals and companies and they do not work the same way. We had never been told this by anybody before this. As a result, we were told, the only way we could put money into our card account (linked to the bank account) was to set up the card as a beneficiary and do pay the card that way, with the bank charges which would apply of course.

We think this is totally ridiculous and not geared for user-friendly business trading, and said so, but we had no alternative so we did this, and the beneficiary set up worked....Then we tried to make a payment, only to have this fail for "technical reasons". We are still waiting for ABSA to call us back on this.

In addition to all this misinformation and poor service, when the card was ready to collect, we went to the bank to collect it, and signed for it, but this did not stop ABSA sending an SMS the very next day to say the card was ready for collection and if we did nto collect it, it would be destroyed! Do these people know what is going on?

As the CEO of this company I think their service to business sucks.
