Poor representation of Absa
Recently I purchased another motorcycle.
I found a deal which I could not pass up and seemed way too good to be true - at 36 years old I have finally learned my lesson in irony.
During the application process, I noted that the FNI lady was very young and seemed to be either naive or very fresh to her role.
There were some bumps and pain points between myself and the salesman of the motorcycle, a few little annoyances with the FNI lady, the dealer principle and finally the "investigator" as the representation of Absa.
To paint the picture:
When the motorcycle was delivered, I had to request a temporary plate for the motorcycle so that I could legally ride the bike on the road.
The Benny hill style of situation which ensued was comical. I maintained my cool and at my own time and expense had to travel out to the testing station selected by Auto King Milnerton to have the bike road worthied - this was not done before delivery.
Eventually whilst sitting at Auto King and watching the FNI lady ask her colleagues to fill out the temporary plate, I was then legally able to ride the motorcycle on the road without taking any further risk.
Not long after this, I was away on business and also visited family in Jhb. Upon my return, I decided to uncover the bike and go for a ride. Before going out, I quickly checked the temporary plate..... It had expired three days earlier.
No contact from Auto King, no follow up. Nothing.
After many, many, many unreturned calls and messages, I finally escalate the situation to Absa's complaint department.
After all, I have paid R2750 for licensing and registration.
If covid is to blame for the delay, a courtesy call and a new temporary plate would suffice.
An "investigator" is then allocated to the complaint. During this time I go through the advert of the bike and start taking stock of what was delivered and note that parts are missing.
Pillion peg and bracket - right side. Extra SBS brake pads. Fairing ***ling.
Needless to say, I finally get the enatis documents and license plate. At no point does Johan Geyer bother to contact me directly, follow up or actually add any functional support from Absa at all.
It actually comes across as if he's trying to protect the dealership and close the complaint and brush me off as an unhappy client.
At least the Dealership got the sale, Absa got the HP agreement and I got most of the bike that was advertised.
In closing, please advise your investigator that using a colloquially worded email response of 'lawyering up' is not impressive at all as representation of Absa.
Once again, clearly ABSA has no need in making contact with a client to further discuss the issue and find some common ground to make sure all parties are happy.
I would now like to point out that the motorcycle was registered as an 'ABS' model, but is in fact not an ABS model.
Regards.
B Henery.
