Poor or No Service ***

9 October the storm hit us and surrounding areas. Our roof was blown away, house flooded, trees was blown over and demolished big part of the roof. Electric Fence gone, Surveilance system gone, security system gone, water tank and tank stand gone. 30+ trees blown over. vehicles destroyed. We opened the claim on 10 October 2017 with Absa insurance call centre. 11 October the assessor/contractor arrived and we were informed he was only cleared for R10 000.00 worth of repairs. We phoned Absa insurance again. They informed us an Internal assessor willbe with us on 12 October. Themba Sehlangu arrived at our premises on 12 October 2017 and was shocked at the state of our damage. He took pictures and measurements of all the damage. He explained that he will get the contractors in to assess and quote. I asked him about the most important situation and it was the security of our premises. He informed me to submit quotes from our Security provider to re-instate our security. it has been 4 weeks now and we have not heard ONE word back from Themba or Absa regarding our security, regarding our losses, regarding the money have spent out of our own pockets just to get our place livable again. I have sent an official complaint to Absa Action line, yet no response either, i have called the call centre numerous times and they cant give me any details. Themba has been phoned and numerous messages are left on his phone to call us back, yet till today NOT ONE reply. The only upside to this story is that ONE contractor/assessor that quoted on the roof has been approved, but not with hiccups. At first it was told to us that ABSA only approved a "patch job" on our roof, then later it was apparently aproved to install new roof.

NONE of the other work that need to be done has been approved or our security quotes havent been even been looked at yet. On the 19th October people were wondering around on our premises. luckily no one got injured as our response provider chased these people away. i had no choice but to install a electric fence out of my own money the following day.

ABSA Insurance doesnt care about their clients. I have been client of ABSA for over 30 years, yet my security is of no concern to them.

Once electricity was restored in our area, we had to buy a new water tank and pressure pump just to have water, till today if we didnt do it our selves, we wouldnt have had water either.

It is unacceptable that basic rights/needs of any person isnt a worry for ABSA. Why is it that clients from NEDBANK, OUTSURANCE that has also been hit by this storm have been already helped and assisted.

ALL SLIPS< QUOTES of ALL the money we spent have been sent to ABSA. All quotes for the replacement of our security have been sent to ABSA, yet no one gets back to us.

I will not leave this matter here, i will take this matter to Ombudsman if we do not get communication from ABSA. it has been 4 weeks since the storm, and ABSA doesnt care.
