Poor customer service

They say prevention is better than cure and the Covid-19 protocols calls for one to stay at home and if you step out keep at least a meter and half of distance and wear a mask. How is this possible if bank staff do not take due diligence when assisting their clients?

Banking apps were created so that there is less people rushing to the bank for assistance on things they can do on their own at home. About two weeks ago I opened an ABSA bank account in a branch in Phoenix Plaza and this is the nearest branch that a person living in Kwamashu can find since the unrest the county experienced back in July. Opening the account was not a hassle, the only problem was the queue. Since Friday I have been trying to pay someone using the ABSA App, the transaction was not going through and so I tried adding this person as a beneficiary so that I can use cashsend to do the payment, or maybe do the payment later, but the app did not allow me to capture the beneficiary. So this morning I decided to call in and ask for assistance, the lady I spoke to advised that when the internet/cellphone banking was created for me no limit was set which means I cannot send cash or pay someone and to have this issue resolved I have to go back to the branch and ask for them to set this limit, and once this has been done than I'll be able to do payments or send cash via the ABSA app or using the *120*2272# USSD code.

The most frustrating thing is that this could have been avoided when I was at the branch two weeks ago, now I have to travel from Kwamashu to Phoenix, wait on the long queue and risk exposing myself to Covid-19 just so that I'm able to send cash using my phone and I have to make an excuse to the person who is waiting to receive the funds.👎
