Poor complaints support
I had a matured Tax Free Investment account with ABSA. I needed to move this to another bank due to better returns. ABSA doesn’t allow telephonic transactions, you have to go to a Branch. I went to the Branch and spent hours there. I was advised that I need to transfer the funds into a transaction account(which I don’t have) then transfer it to the other Bank. When I enquired about the tax implications-its the only way they do it. Low and behold, SARS wants me to pay taxes on that amount. ABSA has given me no feedback since I logged this complaint on 20 August 2022, although I was promised feedback and I have sent numerous emails. I need to file my tax returns and due to the flaws in your processes and lack of customer support, I can not. I am so glad I do not bank with ABSA. Public humiliation might seem to work to get their attention.

01 Nov 2022, 12:55Dear ABSA, in 51 working days and counting, you have not resolved my issue that was initiated by your own processes. In order not to be in default with the tax revenue services, I submitted my tax returns, knowing that ABSA's submission was incorrect and still is. Till today, I have not received any feedback in regards to any fruitful progress.
