Point of Sales purchases only being processed 6 months after

Last night to my shock I received multiple notifications smses from my bank ABSA, saying that I have made purchases at Checkers Okovango Crossing. To my shock, I got a mild panic thinking my card is ******, but it was not. In minutes my account was empty and I was R7000 in the MINUS!!!! I could not understand I didn't buy anything at Checkers that day? I immediately phoned ABSA where they rep**** that it was a technical error and the money would be paid back once they figured out what was going on. As I woke up this morning I looked on my banking app still not having received my money back. I then decided to do into the bank to sort it out. Now, this is where it gets interesting... Turns out that it is past purchases that I made at Checkers Okovango Crossing dating back from April 2017, and Checkers only now processed it. What didn't I understand was how could it be? I received messages saying I purchased it, my available balances also showed the money deducted, it was gone. At the end of the month there where no uncleared balances. Turns out that Checkers didn't process the reserved fund and at the end of every month the reserved fund would expire... Still being very confused I said to the bank ABSA but how??? I would notice money coming in, I budget tightly, I know what I can spend and what not I daily check my balances... ABSA then said but if you went and looked at your statements it would show that the purchases didn't go through.. I said I understand, but what is internet banking for then, then it is an accurate display of what is happening in your account. I trusted that the amount it displays is correct... if the uncleared/ reserved money did expire would I not receive notification or see money coming in?? Their response was no Mam it doesn't work that way... I also was not the only client who had the exact same thing happen to them, and which was funny is that it was also the same exact type of bank card... After many frustration and tears, complaint logged, nobody can give me an answer, except that I am now in debt and was forced to get an overdraft. I have absolutely no money in my account and feel like institutions like Checkers and ABSA failed me... I trusted them...and turns out my money is not safe at my bank...ABSA and for checkers how can you only notice now that there are unprocessed POS. I want you to put yourself in my shoes and think what would you do I cant afford this shocker...it is the middle of the month and I have no money, I am now in debt, because of technical errors done by ABSA and Checkers, without my approval or consent and all they want me to do is accept it. I never thought I would say this but if someone would ask me if ABSA is a good bank I would not refer them to ABSA. THIS KIND OF MISTAKE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. This is a mistake by ABSA, you say you take care of your client, why did you not notice this, why did I not receive phone calls of uncleared/ reserved purchases. How can that money reset if it was not processed, it supposed to stay there until Checkers and other transactions have processed it. How can a debit account be -R7000 in credit... I am so upset and disappointed and furious. Because there is absolutely nothing that I can do or did to have this be done to me...
