PLEASE UPGRADE YOUR CREDIT CARD SO WE CAN REMIND YOU OF OUR BAD SERVICE!!

I was recently contacted by Absa and offered an upgrade on my credit card. I specifically asked the lady what will change as I do not have the time or energy to struggle. She said only the monthly cost will change - nothing else. I have a secondary card for my husband as well and I asked her if his card will also be replaced now, on which she rep**** no.

I waited a couple of weeks and enquired at Kolonnade branch on where my card is. The lady said the card is with the courier and they will arrange with me for delivery. Two weeks later I was still waiting to be contacted. In the mean time we were not able to do on-line purchases as the card numbers were invalid (which we didnt know at this stage).

I then phoned the Premium line where a very nice lady assisted me stating she will search for my cards as they have been sent to Mayville (the branch closed down). She said she will determine where my cards were so i dont have to drive up and down or she will order other cards and have them delivered to me. I waited and waited for the lady to phone me and Im still waiting today - a week later. I phoned the Ben Swart branch and determined my cards were there.

I drove to the Ben Swart branch where the most unfriendly lady with long blue nails attended to me. I think this lady is in the wrong profession, because clearly she doesnt value customers. She threw my secondary card in the dustbin, because she didnt check the envelope properly. Luckily the lady from Premium Banking confirmed the morning that a secondary card has been issued (although the lady that upgraded my account said there wont be an upgraded card now) otherwise i would not have asked for my card. This lady is just so unfriendly and unapproachable and if you ask her something, you can see in her facial expression shes of the opinion that shes doint you a favour - shes not being paid a salary to help.

This whole experience just left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

If you look at the rate that banks are closing down you would imagine banks will step up their service - not ABSA.
