Pitiful
After requesting for an bond from Absa in 1992 to buy a property 571 Servaas Street Pretoria West and then paid this bond off in 2000, requested for an 2nd bond in 2006 that I also managed to paid up in 2010. All the while had home insurance with Absa the start from and was pretty satisfied with them. During this time I made use of my insurance four(4) times, three(3) for a burst geysers and one(1) was for storm damage of a carport. After the year 2010 have still stuck with Absa to provide myself with home insurance and pay my monthly premium faithfully until in the month of 4 November 2020 the area was hit with a tremendous storm with hail and unbelievable winds, so bad that the wall on the eastern side of my property collapsed during the storm on the 4th November 2020 I submitted my claim to Absa the morning of the 5th. The contractor arrived at my house on the 5 November 2020 at lunchtime taking photos and writing up a report from M H construction that properly has contacts or receives some sort of benefit to find fault. About 2 weeks after that after having to contact them on many occasions, the assessor arrived at my house. he then went down to the wall and just viewed the collapsed wall , walking out the length of the damaged area. the assessor Riaan then after left. On the 23 November I phoned Absa to find out what was to happening with my claim to say it has been denied. They then sent me an e mail on the 24 November 2020 with the rejection of my claim. This is a crying shame that after all these years paying my insurance faithfully that they, without sending somebody else to come and check that the 1st contractor knew what he was talking about, and considering I did send a mail to inform them I was disputing their outcome, to which I have yet to get an acknowledgment of that email. The purpose of taking out insurance is for reasons as such. Shame on Absa that only care about receiving your contribution every month and do not care about the plain and simple every day person that keeps them alive, I just feel that all this time and money spent paying these premiums will get better service from this bank.
