I have a personal loan with Absa , I asked for the due date to be changed, from the 28th to the last day of the month.
This was done, however the debit order for Jan returned because I didnt get paid until the 31st. Resulting in a R150 charge
Then spoke to an agent who called me back after investigating , and she said that the due date for payment changed but not the debicheck. Unfortunately, the call dropped so I couldn't state my case, and I also don't have the time to run around trying to fix this. I now find that there was a similar instance in Nov23 which I didn't pick up.
1. As a customer I should have been made aware that the debicheck needed to be updated 2. I have never received a request to update the debicheck, so it remainded active on the 27th. I checked my app and there is no pending debicheck or anything. 3. I pay an additional R500 amount into the personal loan every month to pay it off sooner 4. My internal record with Absa has been affected as a result. 5. I run my sole prop business through absa and have a premium account.
What I would like is the following: For the funds to be credited to my account, and for my internal record at Absa to be fixed. And also for the debicheck to be updated to prevent this in future.
I did the right thing by informing the bank that the due date/payment should be at the end of the month. This may just be an oversight, or technical problem however I don't feel that I should be liable for this R150 charge. I have my entire portfolio with Absa and would like to maintain a good record. At this stage I won't leave the bank , however I just won't recommend them to anyone if this can't be resolved.
Best regards,
