Penalised for default on imposed insurance
I was retrenched in October 2014 and I notified Absa because I had one outstanding instalment on my overdraft and owed on my credit card . I did settle the overdraft monthend. I noticed in January that Absa kept deducting R21 for life insurance. On 2 Feb 2015, Absa deducted R42 for insurance and penalised me R138 for failing to provide for R21. Alexe told me that I signed for the policy when I signed the terms and conditions of the overdraft I took. She said a refund was not possible because I was covered by insurance I never knew. She said they sent me policy documents I never received. If I had received the documents I would not have asked Absa why they deducted R21. How can I be penalised R138 for failing to provide R21? If I had died during the time I defaulted would you have paid my family? If I cant pay R21 how do you go ahead and deduct double and charge me penalty? This month I see a further deduction of R47 that I do not even know. <br> I asked for email address of Alexe's boss and she refused to give me. She reasons like a call centre agent. I want all my money back. How can you impose a policy on someone who is unable to pay R21 instalment? I want all my money back!!!
