Payment relief turned into a nightmare.

3 months ago I received an Sms from Absa asking if I want a 3 months payment holiday due to covid-19 which I agreed. I responded to the Sms and then after I received confirmation that my payment holiday was in place. fast forward 3 months later I start receiving Sms's that my account is in arrears then finally I get another Sms indicating my payment break is over and I need to start paying(which is fine and well). I then decide to give them a call today to make a debit order arrangement and find out my due installment. To my surprise I was told that my installment for the month of August is over R9000 and I was supposed to pay the interest portion of my installment during the 3 months payment break.

Firstly no one explained this to me and there was no contract to sign containing the terms and conditions. Secondly why is the matter only brought to my attention 3 months later only when I decide to give them a call. Mind you my installments prior this arrangement were about R4000 now I am in a far worse situation than I was prior to their so called payment holiday. The only solution they could give me was to hand me over to the collections department and I need to call in every month and make an arrangement with them.

Was the intention to help or to put me in a far worse financial crisis?

Can someone please sort this out
