Payment for proof of payment receipt and still not getting it

Ok I went to ABSA so I can get proof of payment for my rent since the property owners said I owe them, when I get there they told me I must R50 just to get the proof, and after they asked me about the ATM number which we used to deposit the cash, how would I know the ATM numbers, to cut the story short I do not understand why ABSA would require us to fill in so many details while we deposit outside even though they are useless when one want proof of payment!
