paying for what wasn't given to me.

Hi. I would like to know why I was unable to close my cheque account. My salary was paid into it and I had problems with unknown parties Taking money from my account. When my Salary went into my account that 25 I went into the branch and first request they switched me back to saving account but they couldn't assist me. So I asked that they closed my account that moment as my Salary was in but I was told I can't close it I had to wait for new months fees to be added. I wasn't happy ND with drew all my money. They next month I had a R300 outstanding on this account and went again into brunch and request they close my account but I was given the run around. By the following month it went up almost double that amount and again I went into the brunch and requested they close this account but then I was told I need to pay up that R600 before it can be closed. Now I'm paying off money which has mounted up to R1500. I am not happy about this. Please advise.
