Pay to close an account. Pathetic

I Went into ABSA today to go and close an cheque account. To my surprise I had to pay R222.18 to close my account. I asked the teller as to why this is and she advised its the procedure. No wonder people just change their bank account without closing them and frankly i don't blame them as I felt like walking out myself. Why the hell do I need to pay to close the account. There is a reason why an account is being closed. I hope this is in the clause when a account is being opened. i wish i could move all my thing away from ABSA. UNFORTUNATELY I have Funeral policies and life polities with them. in this moment in time i wish i never opened them to start off with. for Now i will leave it there is I"ve been paying them for so long. My Credit Card on the other hand will be paid off ASAP and will then be closed. i will rather move the credit card o another back as this is just pathetic. ABSA will never see me again. No wonder Capitec is growing the way they do as they are not ripping people of like ABSA.
