Pathetic service at Absa Church street

Absa Potchefstoom(Church street branch) has turned into the worst Absa branch I have ever visited.

Wednesday 20 July 22 I visited this branch to collect a card of mine that was delivered there because the previous card had a tap and chip problem.

I asked Irene Ruth Jacobs if I could test the card and chip before walking out and she assured me it would work and I don’t need to test the card (because she was in a hurry apparently telling the lady next to her because she still didn’t have coffee). The “new” card is also not working!

I also closed 2 of my Absa accounts with this same person, at enquiries, she printed out closure forms and sent me to the tellers , after waiting for almost 2 hours the teller closes the two accounts and sends me back to Jacobs because she has to remove the two closed accounts from my online baking profile.

She failed to do so and blamed an expired card, I explained that I do not have the expired card because that too was a previous once closed and never removed from my account profile.

Irene than told me to just leave all the closed and expired cards on my profile it’s fine like that just because she was too lazy to assist! Also in a very foul mood!

I asked her to rather close 2 more of my accounts, since seeing she can’t assist it’s best I move to another bank, with a big attitude she closes another 2 of my accounts and hands me the closure forms once again not wanting to remove the accounts from my profile and sends me back to the teller. (Once again mentioning that she did not get a coffee break)

I explained this to the lady at the teller and unfortunately she too was of no help!

Irene refused to remove my closed accounts, my expired cards my damaged cards.. whenever you go for a replacement card she just adds it to the banking and doesn’t bother with the old cards, my banking app has piled up with cards that are not in use thanks to her.

I had this same problem year ago, I had to go to her with all expired cards and sit there let her delete each one and destroy them. They were all cards she had replaced but never removed older ones.
