I recently changed my childrens accounts from FNB to Absa as Absa has more benefits for my children than FNB. So the accounts are called Mega U. When I opened the accounts telephonically , I made sure of what is needed for my children to qualify for the benefits. I also sat at Cradlestone Absa branch for more than an hour on the 24 May 2018 : again I confirmed what is needed to qualify for the benefits. I was told on both occasions, as long as your children has R300.00 as a balance in their account they will qualify for : 100mb data, mealvoucher and some education .
So I wanted to download their benefits only to be informed you need to go into the branch (AGAIN) to activate the online banking in order for me to log into their Mega U app accounts in order to receive their benefits.
On the 14 August , I managed to spare some time to go to Cresta branch. O which in by the way only has 1 teller to assist not even over lunch time (11:10) So I waited my turn which was again an hour later.
Guess what I was told that : "Oh sorry mam you as the parent also need to open an account at Absa in order for you to download your childrens benefits."
Really, you say what???? After how many occasions there was an opportunity for you to inform me of this but NO, WHY WOULD WE INFORM CUSTOMERS OF THAT?
Why would I move my account if you have no benefits that I would enjoy to your bank.
So I wanted to close their accounts, o no sorry you would have to go and stand at another queue, which I was not willing to do after I already waited that long. But I certainly will cancel both my children's accounts
Never in my life would I refer any of my friends or family to ABSA
