Pathetic fine print for Vehicle finance

Good day

My name is Rooksana Mustapha, the wife of the late Muhammed.

I have tragically and suddenly lost my husband on the 17th of July 2016. He has left me and my 2kids( 4years and 6years old). I am now left alone to try and sort things out in every way possible.

I am under going emotional stress as well as extreme financial stress.

I have been to Absa sat at the counter for about 2hours. The consultant herself was pushed from pillar to post. No call center could give her a copy of the vehicle finance contract, at the end of it all she says to me sorry mam there is no credit life.

Several times going forward I was called by a debt collector to say I must continue installments.

With no joy then I have escalated the matter to Absa oumbudmans they sent a copy of contract and the response was sorry no credit life, case closed: I then responded with the email below and to date there is no response.

I'm already traumatized with the sudden death of my husband and then have to face this.

But as pre agreement contract states large credit.

I understand that credit life is optional. And could not be forced upon by the car dealership or absa.

Due to it being such a large amount lent to the client from absa, there is no accountability of the amount should something happen to the client like in my situation.

Is this an easy way of absa to reposse vehicles should instalments not being met.

Being an assest of such a large amount it should be a compulsory requirement.

So had I purchased a house for the amount of R400000 from absa, and my husband passed away, then I would loose my house, and my kids and I would be homeless because credit life is an optional extra.

If you reply saying home loans and vehicle finance is different aspects, and different credit application strategies are used, then absa credit division should re-look at their applications. Because at the end of the day it is still a large amount being lent to the client .

My late husband is not even an absa client but was lent the amount of R400000. I am an absa client for many years now but it seems with this poor vehicle finance arrangement I should now change banks.

I I wish to keep the vehicle as it really has sentimental value, it was my husbands pride and joy.

Still awaiting your response.
