Paid up loan and account still not closed

Paid up personal loan account on the same day settlement amount was requested and the account is still not closed. A debit order went off this month, after I had visited the bank to confirm if payment was received and the account is closed. They would have gotten back to me and they never did. I emailed them on the 27th and still no response
