Paid Up Letter request with no response

We have been trying to get a paid up letter for months now.... no response to our e-mails, phone lines just ring. This is now badly affecting our credit score when we have had e-mail confirmation from ABSA that the account balance is NIL but our requests for a paid up letter fall on deaf ears.
