Paid up letter

To Absa Group and the appointed attorneys, I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding my vehicle finance account and the ongoing delay in receiving my paid-up letter and settlement confirmation. My husband and I purchased a vehicle in 2019. During COVID, my husband lost his job and we were no longer able to maintain the instalments. We returned the vehicle, after which there was a shortfall balance of approximately R55,000. Due to severe financial hardship, I was unable to continue payments consistently. The account was handed over to attorneys, and I made payments when I could. Later I also became unemployed. Recently I was contacted again by attorneys acting on behalf of Absa and was offered a settlement amount at approximately 50% discount to settle the debt in full. I accepted this and I have now paid the agreed settlement amount. However, despite payment being made, I still have not received: A paid-up letter confirming the account is settled A settlement confirmation letter stating the debt has been paid in full Written confirmation of what steps are being taken regarding the default judgment and update of my credit profile This delay is causing me serious prejudice. I specifically made payment to resolve this matter and to clear my name. My credit profile remains negatively affected, and I am still waiting for documentation that should follow settlement. I urgently request the following within 7 business days: A paid-up letter A settlement letter confirming the debt is settled in full Confirmation whether the attorneys or Absa will proceed with rescission or update the credit bureaus accordingly A timeline for when my credit profile will be updated Please explain clearly what the delay is with issuing the paid-up letter, especially since payment has already been made. I would appreciate urgent written feedback.
