Overdraft Initiation Fee

I want to get to a higher tier level with Absa Rewards so I decided to make an application for an overdraft. I started the application online but wasn't getting it right so I went to the Glen branch to apply. I knew that the monthly cost is about R69.00 per month which was okay with me but Maureen the lady who was assisting me mentioned nothing about an initiation fee of R460 that was to be deducted from my account upon application completion. She had trouble applying for me on her side so she asked her supervisor who assisted me with the application. All was well until he printed the quote and explained to me that there is a R460 initiation fee that will be deducted straight away. I signed the quotation but said to him that fee is ridiculous. I said why is it not at least charged at the end of the month? It feels to me like **************** from Absa since I'm only taking the overdraft to up my rewards tier level. Now R460 has disappeared from my account and I haven't even made use of the overdraft service. Surely the monthly fee and interest charged for using the service should be enough for Absa. Shame on them in the worst way for this!
