OTP notification from sms to email

I am currently sitting abroad and cannot receive OTP messages because I have a new number (a foreign number). I cannot receive messages on my old number anyway because I do not have a contract that will allow for roaming. I simply want to receive OTP notifications via email (which apparently can be done according to certain websites). However, I have phoned the digital banking division and the 3d secure division and no one can help me. Seems like sms is the only way to go. Are we living in the stone age? Why can't it be via email to even the app? I am very frustrated because I cannot do any online payments with my credit card because my OTP lands up somewhere in cyberspace, but god forbid if it must come to my email to even via my app.
