One More Reason to Give ABSA the Boot

<p>From a cheque card that doesn't behave like a cheque card to this. This is the FINAL nail in the coffin for my time at ABSA, which is now at just a few months. My latest problem is this. I make use of an online payment platform called Skrill, it's much like Paypal where you can upload money to pay to other merchants and people. It costs me NOTHING to add money to my Skrill account by using my card online. However, reversing the funds is a complete nightmare with ABSA. I was owed back R214.00 and change. Tried releasing the funds online but didn't understand the process. Then I called in at about 3:30pm-ish on 19 September, spoke to Lerato who had the funds released. I checked my ABSA app and my balance was lower than expected. I only had about R70 in my account. The I checked that R214.00 was added, and then R138 was debited by ABSA for the service to get MY money back. While I can understand that some of these services carry charges, R138 is highway *******. Not only does this fee appear anywhere (the fee is universal as explained to me by Refilwe two minutes ago) but Lerato on NEGLECTED to inform me that there would be such a high charge. If I knew this, I would have kept my money in my Skrill *** fee on a small R214.00 transfer. That's disgusting! When I queried what happens if the amount transferred is lower than R138, Refilwe said that the fee is reversed. Oh, ABSA, you stole R138 from me. You've let me down again and again. Your service is pathetic. Your products are stuck in the past. Against my better judgement I opened an account with you, but I made a huge mistake. I'm going back to FNB. </p>
