On vacation so unable to process your transaction
<p>I sent funds to my mother as a gift from overseas. She received a message last week confirming the funds arrived and that she has to contact ABSA to confirm what funds are for & where funds are to be deposited, which she did. Yesterday, after still not seeing the funds in her account & upon futher investigation ABSA confirms that the employee dealing with this transaction is on vacation and can only deal with it upon her return. WHAT??????? This is utter nonsense. A disgrace. Who does ABSA think they are? Holding on to customer's funds. Who's earning the interest in the mean time? Then my mother will still needs to pay the ********** bank charges for this transaction as well. Sorry customer, you have to wait for your money until my vacation is over. Is that even legal? I AM FURIOUS!! That's why I have not banked with ABSA for years. Unfortunately my mother still does. Is there anybody else that know's how to do their job at ABSA? Seeing as the only one employee thats capable is away on holiday????</p>

So it is the end of Thursday and tommorrow is a public holiday. ABSA has been holding on to funds that are not theirs for a week now. I've rep**** via private message to Claudette but nothing happened since. Tomorrow is a public holiday which means that my mom will now not have her funds until next week some time. HOW THE HELL IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? HOW IS A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION ALLOWED TO WITHOLD CLIENT FUNDS BECAUSE SOME STAFF MEMBER IS ON VACATION?????????????????????????? Well, I hope that person is enjoying their vacation. My mom is not able to enjoy her long weekend since ABSA does not want to give her, her money. Honestly I feel like crying at the moment. I am so far away and I can not do anything to help my mom get her own money. What if this was an emergency? A case of life and death. What if my mom needs this funds to be able to by food? How does ABSA know that this is not the case? I am powerless. PETHETIC, PETHETIC, PETHETIC!!!!!!
