Not happy with ABSA communication, it is atrocious. Late and misinforming

I am disappointed by ABSA. About four weeks back, I went into the Pretoria North branch to apply for a personal loan to buy a vehicle. The consultant captured the application on the system and submitted. Automatically the system said the loan was denied but she said for foreign citizens, the default system setting that on submission the application will denied automatically if you are foreign. She then said she would try and motivate the application using my payslips, proof of address, work contracts etc. She said she would send through the documents to the credit department and would get back to me the next day with the final response. I waited three days without getting feedback and starting calling the bank periodically asking to speak to the consultant who had assisted me to find out the final verdict. Each time I called, I was told that she was not in that day. Today I decided to go into the branch to try and find out directly what was going on. Again I was told that she was not in, and only today I was told that she was off sick for a period of about a month and was advised to see another consultant which I did. She took a look into the loan application system and said that the loan application was denied the first time and there was never any option for motivation for my case. I am annoyed that from day one, I had hope that maybe all would go well as I am confident of my credit rating, proof of income etc

Secondly, after being told that the loan was rejected due to “one or more reasons” which were not specified. I asked the consultant if there was anyone who I could speak to about these one or more reasons which ake me a credit risk so that I could remedy them and put myself in a better position for successful application. Unfortunately she said there is no one who could tell me what the reasons are and I have been advised to try again in 3 months’ time. One thing I said to her is what is going to change in three months’ time, I will be the same person, with the same job, living in the same accommodation. Less likely then that I will be assisted because another three months of waiting shortens my work permit period and makes me even higher risk

ABSA is a big player in the banking sector and I would have expected better communication s****s from them. Was tossed around between so many people, was misinformed and I did not expect this from my bank. If I was told a final no a month back, I would have tried other avenues but for a month I was waiting for something that was not even happening which gave me false hope
