No leeway with help on my vehicle finance.

I called the Vehicle finance department yesterday from inside the George Branch. I phoned in to explain that my situation has changed. I have unfortunately had to close my business and currently unemployed.
The engine on my car has blown and is going to cost me a large amount of money to fix which at the moment I do not have.I am a single Mother, so there is no second salary to rely on. I asked ABSA to give me a three month grace period to try and get back on my feet and then still pay back my car repayments each month but at a reduced payment.
I was told that this was not possible and that the best that the bank can do is give me a 50% reduction in my monthly repayments and that if I went this route that it would effect me with the credit bureau and be black listed with the ITC. Considering that I was very honest with the bank, I feel that a little bit more leeway could be given. I'm not saying that I am not going to pay, I am just asking for a little bit of help. All the other banks in South Africa offer the opportunity to take a payment break. I find it hard to believe that ABSA does not offer this.
