No Documents for the car Paid UP

Hi,

My mother bought a toyota corolla financed through ABSA and paid it off in 2008. As a result of being a bit old, she did not request the documentation so she could change the ownership of the car. Now she wanted to sell the car and she only remembered now that the car documents were not requested from ABSA. She requested the documents at the Giyani branch on the 18th of July 2016. Told she must wait for 5 working days to get the papers delivered. Today on the 28 of July 2016 she is told that ABSA does not have the papers apparently some company has the papers for the vehicle and she must follow up with company to acquire the papers, when the bank should have the documents.

The bank also failed to do its work and financed a car that was written off with that knowledge - this information came out of the agent from ABSA. How does this happen financing a car that is written off. She has been taken for a ride and now she cannot even obtain the papers for the car. I feel she should be compensated for being sold a car that was written and paid all the interests for all those years. She is now seeking legal recourse as this is not acceptable. Financing a write off through ABSA endangering peoples lives.

ABSA needs to explain this thoughroughly.

Reviewer Update

Hi Daphne,

This is the response we get from ABSA, either we are not getting it or someone is not getting it. I think it is in the interests of ABSA that I get a call to from the bank to sort this debacle amicably without further delay as there is financial loss. My mother did not lose the documents for the vehicle so I don't see any possible reason why she should now make a payment to ABSA to reissue the documents for the vehicle. We must remember that if it means that I have to look the email of any possible director of ABSA, I will do so without hesitation and someone must be held accountable for this mishap. An urgent response willl save us all great pain. See below:
