No contact for 1,5 years

I had a loan at ABSA, but in 2016 I had a lot of "loose" debt, and decided to put all the small loans/ credit card etc into one amount as I lost track on all my debt. So I made a loan at FNB (since I bank with them) to settle all my little loans and have one amount. FNB gave me the money and promised me that the ABSA loan been settled. This was *June 2016* . To my surprise ABSA deducted money again *January 2018* for a loan. I went to FNB and they wanted to reverse and "block" ABSA. But I decided to go to ABSA instead to hear for myself why the money went off, thinking its a ****. Then I found out that the loan has never been settled, and when I asked them why they never emailed me any statements, or got into contact with me. They told me that my account was paid in advance so it is no need to inform me that the loan is still active. I was suppose to come check. Without any statements or any contact from them in 1,5 years. Yes I would just go around to banks and ask if I owe them. So it is all my fault that I did not receive any statements, just to inform me on my account. I guess that will make them loose the interest, right...
