No assitance when you are in financial difficulty

I have lost my job. When I started to see that it will become a problem to meet my financial obligations I contacted ABSA just to be informed that they can only assist me to make arrangements with repayments on my loans only once I have defaulted. How silly is that? I can rather pay something for longer whilst I have money than having to pay the full instalment, run out of money sooner, and then pay them nothing! I dont own much so they are going to waste money on legal costs to get a judment and then a warrant that will not bring them anything. So I eventually defaulted. I was told that its not a problem. I can just pay in the money at a branch?!? How is that assistance? I have got a contract job but will only receive money end of March. Why can you not assit me so that I can pay nothing for 3 month and then pay a little more when I have a job and so settle the arrears over time? I am a single mother. We have already lost our flat and now have to live with family. I would rather at this stage ensure my daughter has food and pay you a little less than my monthly payments until I get a salary again at end of March. But no. You do not care about your customers. Only your business. Good to know.
