No assistance from Absa on payment breaks
I contacted Absa on the 24th of March with regards to requesting information on taking payment breaks. I did this to have all my ducks in a row in case my salary was cut / no pay was given due to COVID-19.
I received an automated response - C-***5 and was told that the case was closed even though no one contacted me to assist.
I reached out again via email on the 17th of April - C-***3 - Still to contact or actual assistance given. Just an apology and informed that a consultant will contact me.
Yesterday I finally had a response - asking me for my ID number which had been supp**** numerous times. No contact after that.
I have also reached out on Twitter - on the 14th of April. Requesting assistance with payment break information and information regarding the Credit Insurance Policy of 2017 as I am suffering a loss of income. No response to date.
After posting on Absa's feed instead I was told to supply my ID number and contact details yesterday, Still no assistance other than being told it would be escalated.
I also app**** online for a payment break - no response.
When your debit order goes off this there will NOT be money in my account to cover the home loan. I am receiving half my salary and I am desperately trying to make ends meet and do the responsible thing and inform my banks. Absa is making this impossible and just seems to be stalling until I cannot afford to pay.
When your debit order bounces will you contact me to assist then? Or to just tell me to make a plan.
I need to know 1) is my payment break approved 2) am I covered by the credit insurance act of 2017
I need to know this before your debit order which usually goes off between the 1st and the 4th of each month.
Time is running out for me to make a plan and you are offering no assistance other than telling me to wait 5 working days for a response. I waited nearly a month!! I cannot afford to lose my home or begin playing catch up on payments for absolutely no reason when I am trying to be responsible.
