New faulty debit card

My brand new Absa debit card that I’ve only had for a few months is refusing to let me perform POS transactions using the chip.

When the POS card machine can’t read the chip (on my faulty Absa card) it refuses to let me swipe the card and I end up having to use the tap-and-go functionality like earlier today for a R1k purchase.

This is a problem, because I do not carry cash with me and not all POS-speedpoints have tap-and-go functionality.

The worst is I now have to go into a branch and have a new card issues FOR A FEE like I would if I lost the card.

This is unacceptable and horrible from Absa.
