New Client service (or lack thereof!!)

I was looking for convienience. I went online and found ABSA was the only Bank with full online sign up. when you are done signing up, you submit your supporting documents and they will contact you within 2 or 3 working days. All good.

Well that is where it stopped!!!

it took 2 days after signing up for their couriers to contact me to come and deliver my cards. they could only deliver them 3 days after contacting me. When i got all the cards and gave the couriers all the requested paperwork, they leave them lying on the chairs in our company reception area for the world to see while he take pictures of some of them.

Once i had the cards, i called in to the bank to confirm receipt of the cards and get them activated. The service lady i spoke to confirmed that i would have to wait for the courier driver to get back to the office and submit the documents for verification before they can activate the cards. But ABSA will send me a SMS notification as soon as everything is received. Well it is almost 2 weeks that i have had my cards and still no SMS.

So the 2nd to final "flip-lid" moment was i have now received an account already from ABSA for card activation fees. so i call in again to the service desk and the lady i speak to tells me that my account is on hold, but she cannot see why. she suggests i log a investigation request and they will call me during the day and resolve my issue. 2 days later and i am still waiting on that call as well. when i called the service department back the now tell me that my account verification has been rejected due to my proof of residence is not correct. to fix this i must go into a branch and sign some affidavit to verify that i actually live at my house.

The last straw, i call the branch now to confirm with them if there is anything else i need to bring with me, and they now tell me that i cannot sign this affidavit, someone else needs to sign it.

WHAT THE HELL??????

So much for brand marketing. Pathetic!

Update:

Still waiting on resolution. I made a plan to get to a branch and got the Affidavid signed off. I spoke to a gent this morning and while on the phone sent the form in, and he confirmed receipt.

Lets see now what happens.

Honestly makes staying with Capitec Bank a lot more apealing..

So now I spoke to the call centre. They still cannot help me, and their Team Leaders do not speak to clients. The people that handle the account activations as do not speak to clients.

I wish I could post negative stars. Clearly customer service is not a priority.

Yup, as I thought. Despite 2 separate people promising to call me back, and a "Team Leader" that was going to investigate and escalate and come back to be by 3pm, STILL NOTHING!

Close my account before it is even open. Nevermind the bill they have already sent me for an account on hold/inactive.

Well after all the **** service and hollow promises, I get an email from ABSA asking me for my proof of residence (not older than 3 months), as well as I must please confirm my residential address.

There is no amount of pills for this.

Surprisingly, I still have not had 1 single person call to assist me.

Service still sucks!!
