Never use the account and put charge so I can pay it

I open a account with Absa some time January so that I can use the account for my salary but the company didn't want me to use that account Absa . I wanted a savings account and they said I must open a cheque account for my salary .I never use my account ever since they said for my account to be active or open I need to deposit money in the account. I got so much message saying the account is on a minus .I got a call from Absa saying I need to pay them but I never use the account. I told them to close it and this guy was telling me and I never like it cause I am not paying for a account that never used, and I knew that if I didn't put money in the account to active it the account it would not have been active .
