Never closed loan account after 5 years

To whom it may concern<br> <br> I paid up a loan 5 years ago and last week I app**** for vehicle finance. My application with Absa was declined. When they phoned me to explain why....I've learned that my loan account was still open and in recovery!!!! I had no idea as I received a settlement letter from Absa. When I asked the lady on the phone to explain - she said I have to visit an absa branch. Now this is very untenable as this is not my problem. Against my will, I actually went to a branch and waited 15min on the branch phone as the branch could not help me, I had to eventually hang up as I had to get back to work. <br> <br> Can someone please tell me...why didn't anyone phone me the last 5 YEARS to solve this quandary. <br> If there is any interest - it cannot be for my account -<br> <br> Can someone just fix the quandary. <br> <br> <br>
