NEGETIVE BALANCE OF R900 FOR NONESENSE!!

When I opened a Cheque account I was told that my banking fees would amount to R98, I was obviously aware that I would pay a little over that, this morning, when I checked my bank account however, there was a negative balance of around R 909.00, I was shocked and immediately called ABSA and they told me, it was the card swipes/transactions that happened at an earlier date, when I swiped my card, money went off and I was notified, why am I being told that money didn’t go off.

If that is the case, when money was being debited from my account for these transactions, where was it going? And is it possible that I can transact on a zero or negative balance, because I’d like to think that I was monitoring my spending, and my card would’ve declined if it didn’t have funds anymore.

Basically I am being charged R909 for bank charges and to top it all off, I made a Cash Send transfer on the 22nd to a friend who needed it, for the amount of R510, I was not aware that one could not withdraw that amount from an ATM and there is no other option but to cancel the transaction, which will mean the R510 will then go back into the bank account that’s sitting on a negative balance and I will lose it.

I feel like ABSA are conning their clients by charging them an arm and a leg and they are dishonest by no informing their clients before they do Cash Sends that the amount being sent cannot be withdrawn from an ATM, on top of that one can’t withdraw a certain amount and leave some behind.

I’m fed up with ABSA and they’re insane bank charges, I’d like the account to be closed and I am provided with an alternative way to withdraw the R510 as that amount does not belong to me.
