National Deceased Estate Horrible Service

Case Number: 2022/25928.

ABSA has been giving me the runaround since the 29th of December 2021. I have had three case numbers, the first one was 2021/86006.

My grandfather passed away on the 18th of December, he had some money in his account and we wanted to use that money to help us with his funeral. I sent Absa the quotation from the funeral parlour, with their account details so that they could pay directly to them. I even sent them a confirmation of account letter from Standard bank when they told me the money keeps bouncing back.

I have called the Absa National Deceased Estate department almost every weekday, spoken to countless consultants, but this issue has not been resolved.

I was told a number of times that an EFT has been made but when I ask for proof of payment, I don't receive anything.

Every time I call, they ask for my phone number and email address with the assurance that they will contact me with feedback but only one person has done that (two weeks ago).

My grandfather was buried over a month ago, and I am still struggling to settle his affairs with Absa.
