My money is being withheld

Not thinking, I tried to make a cash deposit from an Absa ATM to a Capitec account. We received a slip saying the transaction was invalid, but the money got stuck and the machine withheld the money. I reported it to Absa but they said it wasn't their department and that I should go to a Capitec branch. I explained what happened and they gave me a ref no but still no news as such. I'm 8 months pregnant and we lost R3600. The fact that no one is concerned or interested at Absa to actually go and check the ATM to see that there is money that doesn't belong to anyone, frustrates me with their in consideration. Is there more I can do to help speed up the process?
