Mothers Death, Absa no where.
I am deeply aggrieved. My mother passed away on 15 December 2017. I contacted Absa as I have a funeral plan with them for over 14 years for R 10 000 to help with the funeral cost. I was informed that the money cannot be paid out due to the plan not having a beneficiary on it.
Absa requested me to obtain a Letter from the master of the court in order for the payment to be granted to me as I have been paying for the policy since inception. This was unfortunate and I had to pay for all arrangement with the help of my sister.
The master of the court required several documents and Undertaking and Acceptance of Master’s directions from the nominated executor.
No Executor was used as my mother resided with me and had no assets and at the time we had no guidance on such matters.
I then forwarded several emails to Absa requesting, if the policy is not able to pay out to refund me the premiums which I paid for 14 years which they can see who was the payer on the policy. To date they have not responded. To happy to take people's money. The initial advisory should have ensured that a beneficiary was added on inception of the policy.
