More has to be done!
On 18 March 2015, I was a victim of pickpocketing. This happened while I was making a purchase at the SPAR in Mayville Pretoria, were my money & Absa bank card were ******. Unaware, the ******* went on to make a cash withdrawal of R3000.00 from my saving account, leading me to believe that they had been following me as I made a withdrawal of R1000,00 at the ATM before heading into the SPAR. I was later alarmed by a purchase of R979.60 made at Johnny's Liquor store in Pretoria CBD. It dawned to me that my card & money had been ******. I immediately went to the Pretoria-North ABSA were I hoped for some relief from what had taken place. To my letdown I was only told of the exact ATM the R3000.00 was withdrawn & that I would not be refunded of my money. Now my question is, are such crimes often left unresolved by the ABSA bank? Isn't it the responsibility of the bank to insure the safety of clients using the ATMs & if such a crime takes place for the specific branch to investigate? Also if they are unable to meet my expectations, to reimburse?! This is unacceptable
