Money lost at an Absa ATM
Made a cash deposit of R2000 on the 9th January 2023 at an absa ATM in Protea Gardens. Some notes were rejected and the ATM gave me an option to retry rejected notes of which I did, it counted the notes and asked me to confirm a R1100 deposit instead of R2000. Went into the bank for assistance but to date there's no clear explanation of what happened to the other R900. Any advice on this matter?

12 Mar 2023, 09:03After you sent an email that the case has been closed I made several attempts to call you but your line rang unanswered. You went on to investigate a R1100 deposit that I made after the initial deposit in the middle ATM. Yes the second deposit was successful and was made on the different ATM at the same branch and that was the notes returned by the ATM after the first deposit. You failed to resolve my case and that shows ********** actions are involved from the branch consultants hence you were made to investigate a successful deposit that was made later on the day after R900 was lost in your ATM. You even fail to answer me when I ask about an ATM reject bin and who clears it of rejected notes. I agree with you when you say the ATM was balancing and have no excess notes because the deposit in the middle ATM didn't go through, it returned R1100 of which I cancelled the transaction and went into the branch to lay a complaint. Does notes that goes into the reject bin get counted when balancing the ATM by the ATM custodian or is counted into their pockets. There's no way you can go to an ATM with a certain amount of money and leave with a shortage and yet nobody knows in the bank where the money went to. If ********** actions are not performed by employees then why can't they attend to complaints immediately and check ATM's as the complaint arises than check the next day with the client absent. Kindly investigate the correct transaction and leave that of R1100 that went successful because that was not an initial deposit but a transaction made into a different ATM after the cancelled transaction in the middle ATM.
