Money centric not client centric
If I could give them a zero I would.
They do not abide by their own code of conduct, or the constitution.
Last week I payed up all my accounts and instructed them to close all my accounts.
This morning I received an SMS indicating that a transaction went of against my credit card.
When I phoned to enquire how that happened after I instructed them last week already, their response was that they tried to contact me on the 26th *sic - this morning (after the transaction already went through to close the account.
After asking the reason for the closure departments need to contact me, after paying all the outstanding balances and giving them instruction to close the account telephonically, which is recorded with my consent, and is a legally binding document, do they still need to contact me, her response was that a transaction went off against my account and they need to account for that.
After a whole screaming match from my side and the lady trying to explain to her best why they still need to do that, failing to answer that one simple question, she put me through to her supervisor Colleen. After identifying myself I asked Colleen to do the same, so that I can validate her identity. She responded that I can get her name and surname, but that she is not at liberty to give me her ID number.
This is where I told her that the phone call is ended, since I am expected to identify myself, but according to them, I cannot expect to be able to do the same.
This follows after I lodged a complaint with ABSA and claimed for a property I lossed due to me not getting a home loan, because they had blacklisted me, without communicating with me. Their agent who investigated the claim (Case Reference Number ********** ), Kingsley Lenake, responded with the following: Regarding you complaint (you stated that you were listed for an account you have with Absa and that the was no communication with you regarding this account).
As a customer centric bank we truly appreciate the time you have spent to bring this matter to our attention and the opportunity granted to us to improve our processes and services.
The matter was referred to our Debt Sales Division and below is of relevance:
· According to our records the bank has tried to make contact with you regarding the status of the account on your cellphone number ********** 736 however on attempts to call available cell number it would go on voicemail.
· The account has since been accumulating admin charges until write off date 20-06-2018.
· Account statement were posted to you registered address which is
PO Box 1107 Sanlamhof 7532
· Statement are accepted as correct unless queried within 30 days.
· Since January 2018 we have received no query from you regarding the account.
· Statement attached show last deposit into the account was made 03-01-2018.
Based on above the bank cannot be liable for charges incurred. It is you responsibility to manage your account.
I would like to challenge Kingsley Lenake to show me from the above response alone, how ABSA is client centric. I asked Mr. Lenake with his phone call to prove to me that ABSA did communicate with me regarding the account, that it is in arrears and that my account is overdrawn. As any person who can read and think can see from the above no such proof is given. The address stated above is that of my estranged sister, who does not speak to me. As I have communicated to Mr. Lenaka, I opened the account an my dad once sent me funds on that. I never got a card for it and I never received any statements.
My response to this was that in light of ABSAs' policy to ***** its customers I will close all accounts and if I every receive any communication from them again I will take them (him and ABSA) to court for violating my constitutional right of freedom of association.
I did close all my accounts... guess what ABSA - here I come!
