I went to an ABSA branch to inform them of my change of postal address. I was told that seeing that I have a business account, I needed to go to my own branch to make the change. Alternatively, I could email the person responsible for my account and provide them with the necessary documents - this was a better option for me. I emailed Rachel Jewitt, the person who has always handled my account, but for some reason, my email was forwarded to Zeenat Kara at SkyBranch business banking. After a few phone calls and emails, I was assured that my postal address was changed to my new address. Needless to say, my bank statement never arrived. I tried contacting both Rachel and Zeenat to find out what is going on. One was not helpful and the other is apparently on study leave. After more emails, I got hold of someone else and after explaining my story yet again, from the beginning, I finally got the assurance my bank statement would be emailed to me and that Zeenat would contact me once she returned from study leave. When I read my statement, I immediately noticed my address was NOT changed!!! What must a person do to get a simple thing like this done? I am now at my wits end with the procedures and incompetence of ABSA bank. Why does one pay service fees, when there is no service? Why is every transaction made to be as difficult, long winded and cumbersome as possible? This is not the first time I have had the assurance something was done and then found out afterwards it was not.
