*********** manager, I just wonder if she's qualified to deal with clients
Absa Florida branch, wow. LAST month I went to absa Goldman Street in Florida to advise them that I can't afford a cheque account anymore because it's been 2 years nemployed. I want to port to a savings account. The lady in the office assisted me and she was very polite. Advised me to go to the ATM to deposit R50 to activate my savings account, which I did and came back to her with the receipt as POP. She gave me my new card and a letter with new nank account numbers. She advised me to go to a lady at th tellers to ask her to transfer the money from my CHEQUE ACCOUNT to my new SAVINGS ACCOUNT. Unfortunately it did not happen. She logged a call for someone to call me to confirm that indeed I am closing the CHEQUE ACC to SAVINGS. For some reason she couldn't help me with transferring the money. I transfered the R2700a into my savings account using my absa app. The following day I received a call from a guy whose a consultant. This guy called to assit me closing my CHEQUE account that I can no longer afford. He advised me that my CHEQUE ACC cannot be closed immediately because I swipped R66, the morning before I went to the bank. The R66 needs to be bank by the merchant before he can close it. Fine the guy promised to MONITOR my Cheque acc for the R66 to be banked before he can close the account. The following day I logged into my absa app and it was gone. I relaxed because it was Sunday thing by Monday the account will be closed. Then comes month end of May, on the 1st of June 2023 I was on minus -R232.50 admin charge, R148.40 transaction charge and R115.00 monthly account charge. I told my woman about it and I said I will go on Friday(09/05/2023) to enquirie why the CHEQUE ACC is still active. Absa over charged me on loan repayments and they refunded me R618.13 on the 08-05-2023. The very same people who over charged me they debited the same Cheque acc that is supposed to have closed R495. I was left with R122.26. I transfered the R122 into my savings account which was also charged R40 admin fee, R1 +R1 transaction fee, R25 for uber, R3.60 notification fee. I was left with R70.06. This morning I ordered uber for R28 and I was left with R47. I called absa call centre and I was advised to go back to the branch because it was difficult for them to assist me. I have complained that I can't afford to service one account and now I am being charged two accounts. I went to the branch, spoke to them and no one could assist me until I requested to speak to the manager. Martie the manager was briefed and she wanted me to wait for her to investigate and I told her I can't wait as I have been there for more than an hour. She requested my ID copy and cellphone number. Yes she called back as promised and her first question was, where you advised about a penalty for closing your account and I said yes. It was supposed to be R400 and some change but it doesn't apply to me since I am still banking with absa. She kept quite and started questioning me about the transactions I have made prior to closing the account. I told her that I ordered a Pizza for R249, transfered my woman R1000. While I was busy explaining what I did with my money, she just said don't tell me about your woman. We also have men. I ignored her and advised her to refund me my money as the bank doesn't have a right to over charge me first, they don't have a right to debit a closed account. If I owe them they must collect their money the proper way like they do with other customers. I told Martie I want my R495 in my account before she knocks off but she keeps on being rude, defending absa and interrupting me while I am talking. Unfortunately I have a diploma in customer service and what she displayed today, it's an example of *********** manager.
