MALIOUS AND PREJUDICAL TREATMENT BY ABSA BANK

Before going indepth into the Complainant, I wish to express my sheer disappointment in the sheer arrogance of this Bank whilst the World is in a pandemic which has affected so many people it's insensitivity to how they deal with their clients is shockingly in appropriate.

On the 14th of January 2021, I spoke to a consultant from the Repossession Department in ABSA Bank on behalf of the ABSA Vehicle Finance.

The motor vehicle was repossessed later that day at 18:52pm after having made an offer which was rejected by ABSA stating that the offer was to low no counter offer was extended by ABSA to establish whether I could afford or not.

Prior to this incident the Bank had been debiting my account and all the installments duly paid in full from the Month of October 2020 to December 2020, meaning for a period of three months they could monitor that my financial status had in fact changed.

I called ABSA prior to that and informed them that there is no need to for I to make an Application for their Covid relieve programme, as I was now employed and would commence work on the 1st of November 2020.

I then proceeded to offer if I could pay double into the vehicle finance account as I had also received my TAX pay out from SARS and the consulted simply did not put the debit in place but simply allowed the one payment to go through in October 2020.

I was then contacted by another consulted and informed her of the same arrangement and she was extremely abrasive and seemed not interested all this happened in the month of October 2020.

For three months they continued to debit my account all normal installments going off with out a glitch. I am rather disappointed that someone set on this account with making any follow up and in a strike of panic immediately send the account straight to Repossession.

The National Credit Act is clear that an arrangement needs to be put in place to enable the Defaulting party to rectify the breach in contract, same was not afforded to me despite my efforts to make an arrangement on the account.

I have never ever evaded the calls of ABSA Vehicle Finance and have been open and honest about my situation.

It is disgusting that even after having willfully and cooperating in handling over the vehicle I was treated atrociously by their Legal Department Consultant.

I paid the errors and the account is up to date and ABSA Vehicle Finance refuses to hand over the vehicle stating that the second payment is not reflecting in their account which such payment I made as an immediate payment from my Bank.

It is amazing that they repossessed me of the car within less then 24 hours and yet when the vehicle is to be handed over it takes them 3 workings day. I find it ironic that it takes them that long to deal with their administrative issues in releasing the vehicle even after having submitted all the required documents.

I escalated the issue to their Complaints Department and was not assisted siting that Legal Department has to proceed with their processes and they therefore cannot intervene in the matter.

I then wrote back expressed my disappointment and also that I will be report this prejudicial behaviour to the Banking Ombudsman and bringing an Urgent Application in court for the release of the vehicle.

I am disappointed this type of behaviour is allowed to continue and most probably I am not the only client they have treated in this manner and hundreds more who do not know process of law. It is with despondent and disappointment I write this review at the atrocious way the ABSA bank treats their clients.
