Mail says wait 5-7 days now getting run around

I did an online application on 4th December, message popped up i am approved, received mail to provide documentation. i mailed everything immediately. i have a cheque account with ABSA, i called on the 10th December spoke to Zubair, who said he will escalate the matter. today 17 Dec is passed the required 5-7 days, i called and am told that they still require income verification. but when i said that i bank with ABSA then am told that they will draw my bank statements and now i am provisionally approved. very disappointed with the service and i donot even have a card yet. very misleading information for a reputable banking institute to give their clients. i ask could someone not call or mail me if they needed more information. if the online applicaton said so evidently that i am approved, congratulating me. why do they mislead their clients. i assume i will only know in a month IF I AM APPROVED. NO 5-7 DAY RULE APPLIES.
