LEAVE ABSA NOW
We have been having issues with ABSA for the past month since my mother’s death.
1.Firstly we went to the Middelburg Mall branch to submit a funeral policy claim and we submitted all required documents. We followed up on this two days later only to find out the claim was never submitted. We went back and the manager confirmed that the consultant who assisted us never submitted the claim and she proceeded to help us.
2. The manager then went on to assisted us on the same day to submit claims from my mother’s credit card policy and the ultimate life protection plan. She advised this would take about 3 weeks or so.(week of 14- 18 nov)
3. We proceeded to submit everything as requested. After a week we decided to follow up since we had to start with the admin on our mother’s estate. We were advised that we would have to complete the personal medical attendance and submit this for the life policy.
4. My sister proceeded to my mom’s doctor who advised that they could not assisted as he did not treat her during the course of the illness which led to her death. My sister proceeded to Middelburg General Hospital which was the Hospital were my mom was first admitted when she got sick this year around September and October. The hospital further could not assist as she passed on at Witbank General Hospital. My sister went to Witbank hospital and the doctor completed the form as requested.
5.The personal medical attendance report was then submitted on 28th November 2022. The email we received confirmed that the claim will be dealt with within 48 hours. 48 hours passed and we followed up. A certain Mark Kyter confirmed that the matter was being attended to only for him to claim that he did not know there was a life policy claim a few days later after confirming his attending.
6. We proceeded to follow up daily till today with one person saying the claim is assessed and now in finance and another saying the claim has not been attended.
7. It is very confusing that we have to mourn our mother and further also continuously be taken for fools by ABSA after your company could not assist us properly from the first day. After all the above we get a call today from a Lunglie who after 3 weeks asking for consent forms to get our mothers medical records. This was never a request from the first day the claim was submitted and suddenly we are being asked for a consent form because as Lunglie says our mother cannot just die from a cardiac arrest out of the blue and the doctors who wrote the report clearly **** or something according to her.
8.Meanwhile our mother has been in and out of hospital since September/ October 2022 running tests to find out what was causing her illness and also being scheduled for a Gastroscope on 14th November 2022 with her unfortunately passing the day before.
9. From the first day we have been cooperating with ABSA and every single day it’s a new story. My mother has been a client of absa for over 20 years and all her businesses were clients of absa and today when she is no longer here it’s a problem.
10. Every single day it’s a new story and it seems as if you are trying to find a way not to pay for my mother’s claim. Its new requirements and new stories daily. You can even track all the emails we have sent and further all the calls we have made.
Below here are the documents which were requested from day one and everything was submitted suddenly we are being told to complete new forms because the hospital is being questioned for the cause of death. It has been over 15 working days since this claim was submitted and today there’s new requirements.
Death claims: 1. Completed claim form (Absa 2647 EX) 2. Certified copy of the death certificate of the life assured 3. Certified copy of the identity document of the deceased and claimant 4. Where no beneficiary or cessionary is noted (if applicable) – a letter of executorship or letter of authority 5. Should the death occur within 6 months of the commencement date, a CMA (Certificate of the Medical Attendant form) or PMA (Personal Medical Attendant form) will be requested 6. If death occurred due to an accident, a police report (Absa 593 EX) 7. Proof of banking details (not older than 3 months) if proceeds are paid t any other bank than Absa Bank
IS ABSA GOING TO PAY FOR MY MOTHERS CLAIM OR NOT. WE ARE TIRED OF ALL THESE STORIES.
