Late estate account
I wanted to open a late estate account for my mother who passed away some time ago, as I need a copy of that to submit for transfer of shares.

I took along a certified copies of her ID, death certificates and the Letter of appointment as executor for the estate.
I was informed that I must bring all the original documents, as ABSA does not accept certified copies of any documentation, but will make their own...

I must also submit all FICA documentation (although I am FICA compliant at ABSA) again for them to FICA me in order to open this account... what a waste of time and my energy!

And then companies like Computershare and Link Investor Service accept certified copies of these documentation - thank goodness for that!

Please, we live in the 21st century, and there is R100 in my mom's saving account.... and I have power of attorney. What if I do not have her ID book, or the original death certificate?

Please advise!

Perhaps I must move to another bank - this dinosaur might get me...
