Lack of support for South Africans abroad!!!!
I am working outside of South Africa, but my salary gets paid into my ABSA account in South Africa. I made queries on how to transfer money to pay accounts etc using internet banking. The response was that I would have to sign an indemnity form and send it back which I did. I got response saying it would take 24 hours after that to be activated. After the waiting period I then used my internet banking and transferred money to various accounts, no problem. A month later when I tried to do the same, the system said I have to use the RVN code sent to my phone( I only use this phone when in SA and this was the reason I signed the indemnity form!!!) The response I get to this is that they have been overloaded with requests. My questions are why did it work over a month ago and not now. We have to put our pin number in, then our password, then the RVN code(is this not just a password for a password). If you are overloaded with requests, does this not tell you something??? My second complaint is as I am running out of money due to this problem, I gave my friend who was returning to SA for the weekend my bank card so he could draw some money for me, he went to the ATM today and tried to draw money and it said you have exceeded your daily limit??? How can this be, no one has drawn money from my account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am guessing that my business is not important to ABSA, certainly feels that way to me. I am not a person that uses foul language, but I am very tempted. I will be returning to SA at the end of December and I think I will have to pay FNB a visit, maybe they would like my business. I say FNB, because my friend uses them and he has no problems here using their internet banking.
