Last night 29 May an unauthorized journal debit of R1618 was deducted from my savings and deposited into my credit account. I have been retrenched earlier and only the payment for May is outstanding. I submitted my insurance forms for my Absa credit card account to the right division and received acknowledgment of receipt of the documents. I have submitted everything required - there were no outstanding forms. I paid an amount every month for insurance in case of death or retrenchment etc. I have spoken to the Absa Credit Card division on the afternoon of 29 May to make arrangements of payment before 24 June and the person also said he made a note of my retrenchment. I was confident that my insurance would pay out by then. Despite the fact that Absa employ (the reason for their high bank costs?) to make these calls, any response given is apparently ignored and an unauthorized journal debit was deducted from my account without any prior notification, let alone permission. Is this legal? When will my credit card insurance pay out? I need urgent response about this please. I do not have the money to buy enough airtime required to hold for an Absa call centre and going to the bank is also not within my means now.
Best regards,
